Exodus, Law & Identity as God's People

It's easy to read the Ten Commandments as a ladder to climb toward God's favor, but the order in Exodus says otherwise: God delivers Israel from Egypt first, and only then gives the Law at Sinai. The Law was never the price of rescue; it was the shape of a life already rescued, teaching a former slave people how to live as free, holy, and identifiably God's own.
