GETTING WHAT YOU DESERVE RATHER THAN WHAT YOU WANT

Reflection The Bible presents two realities that must be held together: God is perfectly just, and God is perfectly merciful. Justice gives according to what is deserved; mercy gives what cannot be earned. Humanity often desires blessings without obedience, success without faithfulness, and reward without responsibility. Yet God does not ignore the moral order He has established. We reap what we sow. Sin earns death, while righteousness produces life and peace. Our daily decisions shape the future we experience. The greatest example is the cross. Jesus received what we deserved so that those who trust Him might receive what they could never deserve—grace, forgiveness, and eternal life. Therefore, the Christian life is not about demanding what we want but becoming the kind of people God delights to bless. Ask yourself: If God answered my prayers strictly according to my character, obedience, and stewardship today, what would I receive? This question calls us to repentance, faithful living, and deeper dependence on God's grace.
