Proverbs 3:5-6

The book of Proverbs offers us one of the most beloved instructions on seeking divine guidance: we are called to trust in the Lord with all our heart and not to lean on our own understanding, acknowledging Him in all our ways so that He will make our paths straight. This ancient wisdom speaks directly to our modern struggle with decision-making, where we often feel paralyzed by options or pressured to rely solely on our own reasoning. The passage invites us into a relationship of complete trust, reminding us that our understanding, though valuable, is inherently limited. When we acknowledge God in all our ways, we are not merely asking for His blessing on decisions we have already made; rather, we are inviting Him into the very process of discernment itself. This means bringing every choice, from the monumental to the mundane, before the Lord in prayer and waiting for His direction. The promise that He will make our paths straight does not mean every road will be easy or free from obstacles, but that He will guide us toward His purposes with clarity and peace. In our Catholic Charismatic tradition, this guidance often comes through Scripture, the counsel of mature believers, the wisdom of the Church, and the gentle promptings of the Holy Spirit in prayer. The key is maintaining a posture of humility and openness, trusting that God's ways are higher than ours and that He delights in leading His children.
